Spotlight on Safety
At Appleton Lathing Corporation safety is of the highest priority. Practicing safe work habits and maintaining a safe workplace is of the utmost importance in preventing injuries and accidents.
All ALC new hires go through an orientation program. This program includes extensive training on safety-related issues in the construction industry. Some of the topics in this training include: housekeeping, ladders, scaffolds, hand tools, and electricity. Also covered are the steps involved in reporting an injury or accident and the responsibility of the employee in the Return to Work program.
ALC hosts bi-annual, all-employee safety meetings in order to keep up with the latest OSHA regulations and on-site safety requirements. During the meeting our safety consultant reviews a slide show of some safety issues he witnessed on job sites. A question/answer analysis is done with the crew to determine what is right or wrong in the photographs to help prevent future accidents and injuries.
All of our employees are OSHA aerial lift certified, and many are also certified for site forklift use. We offer the OSHA 10-hour training and first aid CPR training to all of our employees.
It is the policy of ALC to strive for the highest possible level of safety standards on all of our projects. Safety does not occur by chance, but rather is the result of careful attention to detail, planning and execution of the projects for which we have contracted. Employees at all levels must work at achieving and maintaining the company's policy of safety.
